A book that achieves a lot of what it says it will deliver on the tin - even with its American perspective.
I listened to the Forgotten Foundations of Fundraising (FFoF) completely on audiobook (and over a long while), so I think it will be worth revisiting again in this format and possibly in printed or ebook format as my retention of the book’s contents is a bit choppy. Some of the final chapters were quite good and married up with a few things I should be mindful or aware of in my professional work.
FFoF was also published in 2019, so it would be interesting to hear if many of the tips and guidance shared in the book has changed significantly over this time. Especially with the pandemic and general cost of living since this global event impacting people’s general ability to give on a smaller level. There was a lot of emphasis on direct mail campaigns, I think that this might not be as popular now as it was then, but that’s just my feeling and opinion in the UK charitable sector and within a small organisation.
Would recommend this book to aspiring fundraisers or those who are interested in philanthropy to show some insight and behind the scenes perspective into the world of charitable giving and fundraising.”
