Forever, Interrupted

By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

“Touching and powerful...Reid masterfully grabs hold of the heartstrings and doesn't let go. A stunning first novel.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Have you ever heard of supernovas? They shine brighter than anything else in the sky and then fade out really quickly, a short burst of extraordinary energy. I like to think you and Ben were like that . . . in that short time, you had more passion than some people have in a lifetime.”

Elsie Porter is an average twentysomething and yet what happens to her is anything but ordinary. On a rainy New Year’s Day, she heads out to pick up a pizza for one. She isn’t expecting to see anyone else in the shop, much less the adorable and charming Ben Ross. Their chemistry is instant and electric. Ben cannot even wait twenty-four hours before asking to see her again. Within weeks, the two are head over heels in love. By May, they’ve eloped.

Only nine days later, Ben is out riding his bike when he is hit by a truck and killed on impact. Elsie hears the sirens outside her apartment, but by the time she gets downstairs, he has already been whisked off to the emergency room. At the hospital, she must face Susan, the mother-in-law she has never met—and who doesn’t even know Elsie exists.

Interweaving Elsie and Ben’s charmed romance with Elsie and Susan’s healing process, Forever, Interrupted will remind you that there’s more than one way to find a happy ending.

“I read and listened to this novel. I did have mixed feelings about it at first; however, by the end of the book I really loved it. This novel alternates between Elsie and Ben’s romance to Elsie and Susan’s healing journeys. The story really tugged at heartstrings throughout and the ending really tied everything together nicely.”
Loudly Crying Face“I think the writing created a world that seemed very real and relatable. She set the mood and tone well as it went on. I didn't always find the protagonist to be likable, but I think that is the point - because you see that change in her after his death. The concept of having 2 timeline arcs was used in an interesting way, and I like having the wedding be the climax, because it ended it an a nice way. This is the 4th book I've read by the author, and although it is definitely my least favorite, I didn't dislike it. I think it could easily be read in a day or a weekend, ans I'd have probably preferred to ahev reas that way. I was actually very moved when she went to the old guy - and I love how it really captures the idea that one funds family in so many unexpected ways - and it was beautiful how her husband did that AFTER he was gone. 🤷‍♀️ I liked it. It was a sweet, simple story, but felt real.”

Loudly Crying Face“I might have liked TJR's debut novel a little more if I had read it before The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones & the Six. It isn't bad, but my expectations were higher after enjoying her later novels. If you're in the mood for a sad romance I would say give it a chance.”
Loudly Crying Face“This book is just so sad 😭. I lover it so much though and was so hard to put down. It’s crazy and hooking from literally the first few pages and definitely had my eyes watering lol. would totally recommend if you’re into books that contain a lot of emotions!”
