Publisher Description

"For A Rose That Blooms In Fire" is a collection of poetry that explores the reality of abusive relationships, and one's infinite capacity for healing. The collection shatters the rose-colored glasses society tends to unconsciously associate with "chaotic romance", and paints a clearer view into the power of self-reclamation.

Through a graceful balancing act between the darkness and the light that comes with healing, Isabel invites you to take the first step towards the most important relationship you will ever know-the one you have with yourself.

“This collection was given to me through a social media giveaway. I think that's how I know for a fact I was intended to read it when I did. The day it came in the mail I was really struggling with a project of my own and I was stuck in a rut because of my personal history. But reading this - I was able to relate, to experience and grow, and also go approach my project from a clearer headspace after. Now on to the actual review - I just find that personal connection helps because poetry speaks to everyone soooo differently especially as we're all in different headspaces when we read and the different when we review. The writing is stellar. The voice is clear, personal and comforting. The art is amazing and simple - it's a good way to think about the poem to really pause and let it resonate. I adore the way this book progresses and encourages healing and development but also acknowledges where so many people are coming from. Even if abuse isn't it - you can still grow and overcome mistakes, relationships, and so many other poor experiences through these pages. I love that it feels like a friend guiding me one step at a time but there's still space to make my own connections and revelations. Very very glad I found this collection and amazed at my luck.”
“First, I want to say... I’m so in love with the title of this book! & the cover itself! So pretty! To sum up this book, I’d say it’s the journey of a victim who finds self-worth & confidence—Basically what Isabel outlines in her Preface. I love that this entire book really does feel like a fluid transition from an abusive relationship to this inspirational, motivational, and powerful declaration of self-worth. The poems themselves are the puzzle pieces that bring the whole thing togerher & Isabel’s style is direct, which fits wonderfully with what the book deals with. (She certainly doesn’t sugarcoat things, but I won’t go into any detail about that.) Though it might sound strange, I felt this...passionate fire burning the whole time I was reading. It didn’t feel like anger coming from her words, more of a desire or a hope that people—women prricularly—realize their power so they don’t go through or can get out of a situation like Isabel found herself in. Needless to say, there was a lot of passion in this book, & I was all for it! [I’m still very much in love with the title & the cover lol]”
