Publisher Description

The instant New York Times bestseller

It’s the season
for treason…

The king of Yusan must die.

The five most dangerous liars in the land have been mysteriously summoned to work together for a single objective: to kill the God King Joon.

He has it coming. Under his merciless immortal hand, the nobles flourish, while the poor and innocent are imprisoned, ruined…or sold.

And now each of the five blades will come for him. Each has tasted bitterness—from the hired hitman seeking atonement, a lovely assassin who seeks freedom, or even the prince banished for his cruel crimes. None can resist the sweet, icy lure of vengeance.

They can agree on murder.

They can agree on treachery.

But for these five killers—each versed in deception, lies, and betrayal—it’s not enough to forge an alliance. To survive, they’ll have to find a way to trust each other…but only one can take the crown.

Let the best liar win.

The Broken Blades series is best enjoyed in order.

Five Broken Blades Reviews

3.5
“I’m stuck between 3.5 & 4 stars for this. I liked the idea of it, a bunch of liars/assassins coming together to kill the king. My main critiques of this are 1: some of the writing and dialogue is a bit cringey 😬 (although to be honest, I’ve read worse so I didn’t think it was THAT bad), and 2: the beginning of the book is kinda confusing because you’re following so many POVs (I probably would’ve jotted down some notes had I known). It has a decent plot twist in it, although I did see it coming, and it was pretty entertaining. I loved the nod to Korean culture throughout as well. Overall, I’m interested to see what happens in book 2.”
“I’ve never read a more confusing, a more “where is this going”, a more “I gotta know how this ends” book in my life! This book is not for the easily distracted. There are multiple POV’s and if you find yourself as a reader that is hard to stay focused you might benefit from taking notes, or at the very least jotting down the names and who/where they belong. At least in the beginning. Towards the end it did get easier! Once I started to read this book like the movie Clue it was easier to follow where this story line was going and to keep up with the characters that way. The twist and turns, the lies and betrayal. I didn’t know who was truthful, who was the one to feel sorry for. It was a wild read and an insane ending that I didn’t see coming!”
