“An extremely truthful and interesting look that holds nothing back about the life of Bill Clinton. Maraniss examines his upbringing, education, and relationships that shaped who he was from an analytical perspective that is objective and well researched. The author finds respect for one of the most powerful modern politicians, while throwing aside all bias to bring the story to life.
Maraniss is extremely critical of the marriage between Bill and Hilary, but is sympathetic to their character while unfolding a story full success, controversy, and things misunderstood.
I’m not sure there will ever be a better book written on the subject, because there will never be another person willing to tell the truth and shape a story with facts and intrigue. Not sure this book could be written today with the extreme hyper partisan narratives of the USA trying to turn political heroes into flawless gods. For that, this book will undoubtedly stand the test of time.”
