“Very boring & just goes on & on about a toxic relationship. The only redeeming quality was the switching of viewpoints halfway.
Fates and Furies is a dual-perspective novel that explores the complexities of marriage through the story of Lotto and Mathilde. The first half (Fates) presents their relationship from Lotto’s romanticized and idealistic viewpoint, while the second half (Furies) reveals Mathilde’s darker, more calculating perspective, exposing hidden truths and betrayals. Through lyrical prose and shifting narratives, Groff examines love, ambition, and the illusions that sustain relationships.”Lauren Castelluccio

“I was enjoying the first half of this book. The writing is beautiful, I was enjoying the flawed cast of characters, but kept wondering what this book was getting at beyond a portrait of marriage. I kept on thinking I wanted something more.
And then the second half… let’s leave it at that.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book. The writing is wonderful, the plot gets intriguing towards the Furies section and the characters were memorable and morally gray.”

Lauren Groff is the New York Times bestselling author of three novels, The Monsters of Templeton, Arcadia, and Fates and Furies, and two short story collections, Florida and Delicate Edible Birds. She has won the PEN/O. Henry Award and The Story Prize, been a two-time finalist for the National Book Award and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
