““Ridiculous writing that overlooks common sense for the sake of drama.”
I’ve DNF’d it at just 21%, after the ridiculous brawl in the village, which is such a shame because I was so looking forward to this after the previous instalment.
DeCastell reallllly drags out fight scenes. On its own, this wouldn’t have made me put the book down entirely - it was the inconsistencies and nonsensical logistics that did.
We learn from Binta that the curse took a long time to set in, yet in the village, the mayor barely got through a few sentences before the whole room was fully zombified? And when Ferius stands, the room was an instant obstacle course???
Completely lost faith in the author after all that.
There’s also sooo much repetition of the “arta’s” that it makes me think Ferius is not mentally well - she can’t move a muscle without applying one of Durrall or Enna’s teachings.
I guess this is where the Spellslinger series ends for me. It was good while it lasted, and I’ll always love Durral, Ferius and Quadlopo. 💔”
