“I’m going to see eyeliner (and makeup in general) in a different light now. Those thin lines that adorn (mostly) women’s eyes aren’t mere decoration—they represent a long history of beauty, a symbol of resistance, and a way to respect one’s culture. Those same lines—ones Taylor said were sharp enough to💀 a man—hold a power I didn’t know existed
Hankir narrated each story with concise historical references, which might be a bit boring for some readers. Some parts felt either too long or too short for my taste, but the book was still rich in knowledge—I had no idea about most of these stories.
Anyway, it was still a pleasant non-fiction read after months and months of thrilling fantasy and romance.”
