Everything I Know About Love

By Dolly Alderton
Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

New York Times Bestseller

Like Bridget Jones’ Diary but all true— a wildly funny, occasionally heartbreaking memoir from the funny, sharp British journalist and podcast host, who Elizabeth Gilbert calls “a sparkling Roman candle of talent.”

“The older you get, the more baggage you carry. When you date at twenty-five, everyone walks into the bar with a very neat, light carry-on. When you date from thirty onwards, get ready to meet someone absolutely brimming with history, complications and demands.”

When it comes to the trials and triumphs of becoming an adult, writer Dolly Alderton has seen and tried it all. In her memoir, she vividly recounts falling in love, finding a job, getting drunk, getting dumped, and that absolutely no one can ever compare to her best girlfriends. Everything I Know About Love is about bad dates, good friends and—above all else— realizing that you are enough.

Glittering with wit and insight, heart and humor, Dolly Alderton’s unforgettable debut weaves together personal stories, satirical observations, a series of lists, recipes, and other vignettes that will strike a chord of recognition with women of every age.

“The book starts off slow, and at first, I couldn’t relate much. But as I read on, it became deeply relatable, and the life lessons toward the end really made me reflect ✨ Though my life is different from the book, I learned it’s okay to be single, to have had only one relationship, to wait, and to focus on myself. Life isn’t a race. Living in the moment matters 🦢 A thoughtful, relatable read for women in their twenties 🩷”
“I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I started this read, but it was such an honest account of what it’s like to be a woman in your 20s. There were many experiencing that i felt overlapped between the authors life and my own, and listening to her navigate them and the lessons learned were exactly some of the things I needed to hear. The biggest takeaway that I loved from this was that you may not have to actively search for love- most of us already have it in the friendships we have with our friends, how this is what is most important and keeps you afloat in your 20s. I’m not typically a memoir reader and was worried about how I was going to like the writing style, but it reads almost as a work of fiction with the glimmers of reality and the lessons to be learned.”
“This book honestly surprised me in the best way. The beginning was so slow, oh so slow 🤣🙈 Then I saw a comment on Fable saying to stick with it because things start happening after the 25% mark. So thank you for that! It turned out to be an incredible memoir. And if you’re a millennial, this one is definitely for you. 🤗”
