“Ghosts. In this semi autobiographical tale of an author coming to terms with the death of his daughter you will be introduced to the ghosts of genocidal soldiers and the demons that haunt a grieving man. James Lee Burke is a master story teller and writing skill will have you hooked from the first paragraph. I gave 4.5 stars only because I like the books set in New Orleans more and if this is your introduction to him you will probably find it worthy of 5. Warning there are some very graphic references to treatment of native Americans but they are important and relevant to the story.”
