“Short stories really are a great way to get more reading done when you are short on time. I love grabbing anthologies when my reading time will be broken up and I can only take a minute or two to enjoy! And this is an interesting set. There's a nice mix of sci-fi stories that some I loved and a few I struggled to connect with. I did love that each set was given with a small note from the author - it added an additional layer to the stories and I love when authors add that! It's a nice set, I recommend it! A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.”

“i will read pretty much anything charlie jane anders writes at this point! loved her little ode to short stories at the start. i also really appreciated the context to each story at the start of the story (and not all bundled together in the intro which most anthologies do and i dont understand why because i dont remember it by the time i get to the story lol and if im reading an ebook its too annoying to go back and forth) some not so good (mostly in the first half of the book) but i’m getting at better and learning to skip over stories i don’t love when reading antholgoies favourites: - even greater mistakes - mini sequel to https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37534907.The_City_in_the_Middle_of_the_Night ! love these aliens and explorations other ways of being and communicating - time travel club - <3333 - clover - loved. really want to read https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25372801.All_the_Birds_in_the_Sky now! - this is why we can’t have nasty things - third spaces and community <3 - a temporary embarrassment in space time - excited to read more of these characters in https://www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/cake-baby-kango-sharon-adventure/ - the bookstore at the end of america - the standout of the collection for me!! would love to see more of this world/these characters - everything i could want in a book, noting the differences of both ‘sides’, importance of books and being open minded , bookstores as community, refugees, our possible future, but also how being neutral isn’t possible/an option at a certain point liked the concept but the execution left me disappointed - my breath is a rudder - had high hopes and want to see more this collection but this story didn’t quite live up to the hype - power couple - rock manning goes for broke - had high hopes bc this was a longer story but idek what happened/what the point of this was lol - just couldn’t get into it properly - because change was the ocean and we lived by her mercy the rest i either didn’t like/found average/liked but didn't really connect with”
