Publisher Description

Ancient vampire Andrew escaped his tropical island exile with his beloved human sailor, Edmund. They've now returned to Andrew's home in nineteenth-century New Orleans and must navigate not only their developing relationship—and equally haunted pasts—but also a hungry coven of vampires Andrew used to call friends.

Desperate to stay by Andrew's side forever, Edmund examines the impressive coven library in search of an Elder, the only creature capable of turning Edmund. Although missing for centuries, Andrew believes an Elder must still survive somewhere; they just have to find him.

The search is put on hold when Edmund receives word that his mother is ill in London, and the lovers set off on an oceanic journey surrounded by new friends and old enemies. When things go terribly wrong, Edmund's fragile human life hangs in the balance, and an Elder must be found or Andrew will be alone forever.

“Escaping Solitude is the sequel to “Escaping Exile”, which I highly enjoyed. Andrew and Edmund are back, and we’re beginning to see an even greater shift in Andrew’s personality and priorities while also seeing a deeper, maybe darker version of Edmund. While I really enjoyed Bauer’s vicious intro to this trilogy, I also enjoyed seeing the more domestic facets of the couple here. It was another fast and fun read, and is a great choice for anyone craving a quick and carnal vampire romp. My only complaint for this piece was the same complaint I had for the last piece: they fall in love too fast. Andrew was supposedly a murderous (but repentant) and generally not-so-good vampire before meeting Edmund, and even if we make this a love at first bite story, the resulting “I want to spend eternity with you” just feels like too much. Puppy love and infatuation exist. I’m not arguing their attachment to each other in the moment. But to have spent so little time together and come away with the conclusion that eternity is obviously the answer... Too much. But you know what? I decided it is what it is, and moved past it. Ignoring that small discomfort I had with the narrative still left me with a very fun novella that I very much enjoyed reading.”
“The second part of a trilogy, this steamy story isn't lacking it's own punch. This chapter in Edmund and Andrew's journey takes a more familiar path into gothic New Orleans. While a familiar backdrop, it's anything but boring. The new characters are all interesting and unique and the story moves at a great pace all the way to the worst. cliffhanger. ever. I cannot wait for part three!”
