Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Slightly Smiling Face“Eragon by Christopher Paolini is book 1 of the Inheritance Cycle. This was my second rereading of this book in anticipation of reading Murtagh the newest book of the series. This book is one of my favorite childhood books and was even better the second time. This series is one of the series I read in my childhood that made me first fall in love with reading fantasy books. If you haven't read Eragon I would recommend it if you love dragons, dragon riders, elves, or dwarfs. By chance, if you have seen the movie first and decided that is the reason you don't want to read this book then stop! Let me assure the book is way better than the movie for sure!”

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“I just finished reading this book again at 32 years old after originally reading it when I was 11. I still think it has a really good storyline that keeps you engaged. The book length is perfect, descriptions of people, places, and things creates great imagery, and there's a nice amount of suspense to keep you excited to keep reading and make your own theories about how the series will play out.”

Thumbs Up“This book is so Star Wars coded, you can’t change my mind. It’s literally Star Wars with dragons. Eragon is Luke and Brom is Obi Wan. But anyways. It was good, took me a while to get through.”

Slightly Smiling Face“I really liked this book and am interested in where the story us going from here. I do think it was long-winded at times and it could probably be about 100 pages shorter, but I still really liked it!”
