Publisher Description

THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From J
ay Kristoff, New York Times bestselling author of the Empire of the Vampire and Empire of the Damned, comes the epic conclusion to the #1 internationally bestselling series.

From holy cup comes holy light;
The faithful hand sets world aright.
And in the Seven Martyrs’ sight,
Mere man shall end this endless night.

Gabriel de León has lost his family, his faith, and his last hope of ending the endless night—the Holy Grail, Dior. With no desire left but vengeance, he and a band of loyal brothers journey into the war-torn heart of the Augustin Empire to claim the life of the Forever King.

Unbeknownst to the Last Silversaint, the Grail still lives—speeding towards Augustin’s besieged capital in the frail hope of ending Daysdeath forever. But deadly treachery awaits within the halls of power, and the Forever King’s legions march ever closer. Gabriel and Dior will be drawn into a final battle that will shape the very fate of the Empire, but as the sun sets for what may be the last time, there will be no-one left for them to trust.

Not even each other.

“😐🙄 What the actual hell was that ending. Sorry. While I’m glad he didn’t ACTUALLY kill off every single character, now I’m left with gaping plot holes. If Reyne didn’t die, what happened in Augustin with Gabriel and Dior? If Patience wasn’t alive, why did Gabriel treat with Fabien to learn the true intentions of the Esani? Did any of it happen? None of it? Some? Now I can’t believe any of the 2400 pages of book I read over the last three books and feel confused and cheated like I just got a “and it was all a dream” ending. Listen I loved the first two books. I gave them 6 stars. But even despite the lazy ending this book was so long and drawn out, unnecessarily repetitive, and full of editing mishaps. “They ran toward the city’s heart”, then a sentence later, “they ran toward the city’s heart” and that’s the only example I bothered to screen shot, hardly the only one I noticed. Please fire your editor! I bought this book and ALSO the ebook knowing the first two were 6 star reads but now I’m just mad I spent $75! There were so many things I thought he was setting up that didn’t go anywhere, characters he introduced just to kill them two pages later (or did he??). Loose ends everywhere tied up with a “most of my friends lived”, “I did it all to stall.” The ending felt insanely rushed compared to the 700 pages of slog like he realized he was 700 pages into writing and hadn’t even gone anywhere. Ugh I’m disappointed to say the least.”
“Can't even put words together on how absolutely marvelous this book was. A million and one stars to Mr Jay Kristoff for making the most beautiful series I think I've ever read. This was just an absolute masterpiece from start to finish.”
