Eloping with the Laird Reviews

“My Rating: 5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Favourite Quote: “She had saved him when he hadn’t even been trying to save himself.” - Pg. 279 Tropes/Themes: Marriage of convenience, caretaking My Review: Absolutely captivated me from the very first page. The author did an amazing job at bringing these characters together, the plot was very engaging and I didn’t want to put it down. I was quite impressed by the amount of action that was packed within these two hundred and eighty some pages. Rory and Moira had such a wonderful relationship that started as an agreement, growing into a friendship, then into a beautiful romance. I also enjoyed the side characters a lot, they all had a role to play and made the story that much more impactful. The setting was depicted perfectly, I could practically feel the first fallen snowflakes on my skin and see the breathtaking Scottish castles that held so much character. This book was just wonderful all around and I can’t recommend it enough. Although there were some very big and heavy topics brought up throughout the book, everything was dealt with really well. The complicated family dynamics and struggles that Moria faced due to the lack the of freedom, simply because she was not born a man, made me love her strength and charter so much. I also loved that Rory worked so hard on building Moria up, he empowered her and helped her find the confidence to be herself, which she had hidden away in order to survive. I just can’t wait to check out more books by Jeanine Englert!”
“Moira Fraser, widowed, is now being forced to remarry before she's ready. Having been hurt in her previous marriage, Moira isn't exactly excited to do it again. In an effort to exert some control, Moira marries Rory McKenna, who is in need of a wife. Neither expecting to be happy in marriage. Over time, the fact that these two are perfect for each other is noticed by them both and they have to work to be together. I really did enjoy this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey that Moira and Rory took together. Seeing these two realize their need for each other was such a joy.”
