Bringing the Korean roots of the fox demon to the plot is genuinely an enchanting move of this book. Not just it highlights the character of Fee as a Korean-American (which I rarely read) it is also significant to the issue and how it develops the whole book to have poetic touch in it (and how later on how the opposite of burning is talked about.) It makes the book is built to love is fire, and burning and then cold and then I am blue.
The only distraction I have while reading is the absence of quotation mark to note a dialogue. It results to have so many 'I say,' 'he says,' 'she says' to the point I am losing track of what is happening on scene. Sometimes it is also great to create the suspense and plot twist surprise me twice, but however, it also slows me down in digesting the book.
I do not expect this book to be poetic at all and I am glad to discover it. The numbness and emptiness after putting in such sorrow are transferred. Edinburgh is beautiful and painful at the same time.”
