This is not my first book from Eliza Victoria (I’ve read her work Project 17 during pandemic), so I’m quite familiar with her writing style. I don’t know, but this reminds of a book ‘Everyday by David Levithan’, or ‘The Host’ by Stephenie Meyer. Almost similar - but different. It’s nice to see a Filipino book with such an interesting premise.
However, the plot itself felt rushed for me, I wish it was a novel instead. I just have so many unanswered questions while reading it. But I like the creepy concept. I still enjoyed reading this while sipping on a cup of coffee. Looking forward to reading more books from our local authors. 🫶🏼”

Surprisingly, I really liked this book!!! I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. The story was fascinating, and I found myself genuinely curious about what would happen next. Although the ending was okay, I kind of wished there was more to it… like a continuation of what they would do after everything >< It left me wanting just a bit more closure!
But at the same time, I actually appreciate that the author left us with an open ending. It kind of gives readers the space to imagine what happens next. I also liked Jonah’s decision to “wait” before ending their lives. It was such a quiet yet powerful choice that stayed with me. Although there are still questions that linger in my mind, the story had a haunting, thought-provoking quality that made me reflect even after finishing it. Overall, an unexpectedly great read!”

“The novel provides a unique and compelling mix of fantasy and mystery. The author’s fast-paced narrative kept me completely engaged throughout. I truly appreciate a writing style that moves quickly like this. The main drawback, though, is the very frustrating, cliffhanger ending that left me with too many unanswered questions. At only 156 pages, it felt insufficient for a story of this magnitude.”

“"how disturbing do you want it to be?" - possibly what the author thought because this novella it's disturbing af. A great concept, well written and just enough pages to keep things interesting.”

“For such a short novel, I felt the author told the story completely and provided a satisfying conclusion. This story includes magical realism blended into perhaps a sort of dark academia-esque plot, with a hint of a struggle between native culture and traditions and occupying religion and culture.”
