“Review of the 11 short stories collected in
" The Mongolian Wizard stories" by Michael Swanwick
Swanwick is a master of the art form of the short story and this series is the most glorious proof of the fact.
Amazing charecters fight in a fantastical world where a upstart Mongol has taken over a Russia and plans to further his conquests into all of Europe that's much like ours in the 18th or 19th century , the only difference being that the lands here are imbued with innumerable Magics.
It falls to the nations of Europe and above all one man , Kapitänleutnant Franz-Karl Ritter , to stop the Mongol .
Will be waiting with bated breath for the next few installments the series .
I hope the story is set in the late 19th century and America has enough strength to join the fray too.
Absolutely riveting and fantastical to a degree of incredibleness.

“tentative to go up, I need to read the other ones for sure!”
