“There were a lot of stories in this volume, which is great. However, I am not going to list my thoughts on each one, since we'd be here forever. I will review the whole volume as a whole, for the sake of time. As a horror lover, and that's going back to when I was in the single digits, this was a fun volume. I think the stories get pretty scary, and adults can enjoy them as well as younger readers. Sometimes, they felt a little short to me. But that's true to the homage to Alvin Schwartz, since his stories are the same, often hinging on surprise, punchy endings. Another reviewer said there was something for everyone. I think I agree. The tone varies a lot between the stories, and you can hear the individual voice of each author with their offering. You can tell these writers know what they are doing, because it's not easy to write an effective short horror story. While I was able to predict the ending on a few of the stories, they were still fun to me, and evoked an authentic feel of horror in the read. I think short stories are the best format for horror. I love being able to pick up an anthology or collection, read or listen to a few stories, and then come back to it when I'm ready for more. If you are an older horror fan, I still think you'd have fun with this collection. I feel like it might be too scary for kids until ten, unless they are that one kid who is already watching scary movies and is unmoved. While I didn't love all the stories, I didn't think any of them were bad, so that's why I'm giving the collection four stars.”
“3.75; some shorts were better than others and some were more difficult to understand than the rest.”
