Publisher Description

The monster killing business isn't all it's cracked up to be.

We all have a monster within... understatement of the year. For 24-year-old Randi Matheson, she quite literally does. On every full moon, it rears its hairy head. She wasn't always like this. Ever since her attack, the animal comes out to play. And on one full moon, the beast inside tries to eat her younger brother.

Division X, a paramilitary group hellbent on the eradication of monsters, intervenes and saves Randi's brother from being devoured. They take Randi far away and imprison her in a place no monster can escape. Held captive, Randi is given an ultimatum. Work for Division X as a new weapon in the fight against evil or be dissected. Without a real choice, she chooses the former and experiences the dark underbelly of reality as she faces off against vampires, demons, and redneck serial killers. Promised a cure to her condition along the way, Randi does her best to stay alive.

“3/3.5 Monsters and mayhem! A thrilling YA horror story filled with classic monsters such as vampires and werewolves. This story reminded a bit of Van Helsing and X-Files with the various cases and team of paranormal ops. It was exciting and suspenseful! If you enjoy horror movies or stories and aren’t afraid of the gory bits then this book is a must read for you!”
“Have you ever just wanted to read a horror novel but can't quite decide what flavor to go with? Maybe something classic like vampires, or perhaps small town serial killers evocative of The Hills Have Eyes? Here's a better question: why choose? Division X follows Randi Matheson, your average twenty-something freshly out of college with not a lot going on, at least until her life implodes one terrible night. Her world will never be the same again thanks to a werewolf and a paramilitary group tasked with eradicating all the things we tell our children can't possibly exist. The narrative is fast paced and will suck you right in as you follow Randi and her reluctant new partner Briggs on missions for Division X. The horror is visceral enough for your average gore hound, and detailed enough in its action that readers more likely to enjoy thrillers over horror may also enjoy it. My one criticism is, for most, a pedantic one that would affect few readers' experiences. At one point, the term wendigo is used to describe a werewolf. They are two completely different things, one being an Algonquin Indigenous spirit and the other a person who turns into a beast at the full moon. This is a solid”
“If you are looking for a dark, twisty, gore filled werewolf read, this is the book for you!”
“If you like monster stories and you like some fun detective work, Division X is the book to grab! Randi has just experienced hell, literally, when a rabid animal breaks into her Aunt and Uncle's home mauling them to death. She and her cousin are the lone survivors but something is different about Randi after the attack. She's sure it wasn't a man that broke in and killed them, but no one seems to believe her. But when she has her first transformation, she knows she was right all along. Now she's recruited into Division X to help them solve strange cases and use her new strength and abilities to their greatest potential. A really fun read that includes a lot of different story telling elements and makes it fun! At times it feels a bit drawn out, but the extended dialogue helps to provide insights into each character and why they're all where they are in Division X. Randi was fun to learn about as well as she transforms through her own self development of struggling with self-worth into a world where she brings something important and can find purpose. As the story continues to unfold and Randi gets settled into her new role, the real work begins of investigating some strange murders and situations that keep happening. Her and the team are investigating and following the clues that will eventually lead them to their answers. With this book, there is a lot to take in as it pertains to characters, plot and changing settings - but it's fast paced and a fun ride! As a fan of monsters, especially the ancient werewolf types, I had a great time with this one!”
