“This is the fourth book in the Texas Murder Files series following Leyla Breda (Joel and Owen’s younger sister) and Sean who is an undercover FBI agent. Though this an apart of a series, you could read them as a standalone as the author gives enough context about the characters and their background.
I will say this is my least favorite mainly because another side character overpowered Leyla’s story. I felt like the romance was rushed towards the end and I found myself wanting another chapter or an epilogue that allowed for closure. I was also confused about the case Sean and other detectives were working. Reading about past chapters and catching up on the lives was a nice touch. Miranda and Joel’s story is still my favorite and reading about their happy ending was so heartwarming.”
