“Mrs. Vanderburg, the Englisch owner of a market where many of the Amish have booths, is an unrepentant matchmaker. In this sixth book in a heartwarming series by Rachel J. Good, Rachel Glick has earned a reputation as a flirt. Her days consist of working at the market, and her nights are spent caring for her ailing mother. Like many young Amish women, no doubt Rachel would love to find a husband and begin a family. However, her reputation precedes her and thus she remains alone. Sadly, Rachel’s heart yearn for her childhood friend and neighbor, Josh Yoder.
Rachel is not the only one with these emotional feelings. Josh feels very much the same towards her but something happened years previously and their childhood friendship greatly suffered. Knowing that she needs help on her farm, Josh is more than willing to step in and help, and just maybe the young couple just might find their chance at love. And, in case the pair can’t figure things out on their own, Mrs. Vanderburg doesn’t miss a clue.
Both Rachel and Josh are kind, loving people who have a history of hurt feelings and misunderstandings. It was wonderful to see them find love with one another and to forge the happy future together they both deserve.
Many thanks to Zebra and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.”
“I enjoyed this book very much. The story is set in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Rachel Glick as a young girl was happy and fearless. Tow tragedies plus her mom makes her retreat into herself. The other girls snub her and the boys want her attention, which she does not reciprocate. Josh has always loved Rachel especially when she stuck up for him when they were younger. Josh is also dating someone’s else. Unfortunately Josh has a secret and doesn’t think Rachel would forgive him. With a nudge an outsider, things come to light. Thank you to Kensington Books/Zebra. This is my own opinion.”
“***** I received this free ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Books in exchange for my honest review.
Such a beautiful story about forgiveness. I have read a previous book where the Englisher Mrs. Vsndenberg plays matchmaker. I love the addition to her in this story as well. A wonderfully wholesome story of love.”
“This is the first book I have read in the Surprised by Love series. I want to go read the rest of them after reading this book.
Rachel and Josh were best friends when they were young but then tragedy struck and their friendship ended. Rachel has endured quite a bit of hardship in her life and because of that she has become lonely.
Rachel and Josh are thrown together by the town match maker, which they try to resist, but they each have their pasts to overcome. This book is about forgiveness, trust and hope.
Rachel and Josh keep a lot of their feelings to themselves. Josh blames himself a lot. When he finally opens up to Rachel about why he abandoned their friendship, I did not see that apology coming!
I enjoyed the aspect of faith in the book and the overall theme of trusting God and relying on Him. I love a good Amish book!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, opinions express in this review are my own.”
