Danger in the Darkest Hour (Magic Tree House Super Edition #1) Reviews

3.5
“I’m a big Band of Brothers fan, so I was hoping for paratroopers, but just got Jack & Annie (and they parachuted out of a plane with no training, unharmed, which is wild). Also I love J&A but they were killing me with their lack of caution and just telling people their real names and throwing around secret signs to anyone. Like c’mon guys. Reading something set in WWII feels different right now, especially regarding freedom of information and speech and the treatment of vulnerable, minoritized groups. Annie at one point asks a question along the lines of why would people want to hurt others (whether that be physically, emotionally, legally) and that hit me hard right now in 2025 U.S. It feels so much easier to treat people well than not and to protect the authentic wellbeing, happiness, and safety of other people. The connection at least between then and now is that no one is alone and there are many more people who care than who don’t. We just have to stick together 💕”
