“I was surprised at how much I ended up liking this one. Megan Hoffman suffered a horrible rape five years ago. She starts out as the typical super-sweet timid and broken little rape victim (one of my least favorite stereotypes in romance novels). Luckily her new neighbor, single father Jack Calhoun helps her to act like a real human being again. He also happens to be a reporter investigating the rapist who attacked Megan and appears to be at work again. Somehow from the sterile saccharine beginnings this turned into a really thoughtful exploration of the emotional scars our pasts can leave on us and the sometimes long road we have to take to overcome them.”
