Daggermouth Reviews

4.0
“2.5 ⭐️ Honestly was so intrigued the first half of the book. Then it dragged from 50% to 80%, and then too much happened at the same time and I was so confused and taken out of the whole plot. Too many twists that were not well executed.”
“4.5⭐️ Im just a millennial who loves a good dystopian romance book. Probably my favorite genre and I feel like it was done well - easy dystopian world setting to follow & not too heavy on the romance - but made you love the characters and their relationships (we love the longing). I also actually really liked the style this book was written in which may be controversial. It was written in third person but with multiple POVs and I loved that. It also really makes plot twists come to life like this. Characters & Relationships: The way I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with Callum. I loved his character, loved his relationship with Lira, they were definitely my favorite couple. I did enjoy watching the slow enemies to lovers burn with Greyson & Shade. Such an interesting perspective of their different backgrounds yet how similar their situations really were. I loved watching them slowly fall for each other. However, Jameson is literally perfect (which honestly made me think that he would be the plot twist/traitor just because how is he so sweet & in love and doesn’t get the girl?) reminded me of Gale from the hunger games. Maybe he’ll find love in a future book. Plot: I liked the story line a lot. It wasn’t a slow read (I read the first half pretty steadily) but the second half I was pretty hooked for. I don’t need a lot of world building in dystopian novels but I do wish they gave a little bit more background maybe on how they got to where they are, how the Serel family rose in power, how the rules came to be, etc. It was fairly believable for the most part - they were all the best of the best at what they did but none of them were perfect and all got blindsided or overpowered atleast at some point in the story. Plot Twists: I loved the twists at the end of this book! I 100% assumed that Brooker was alive. But I did not see his double plot twist! My jaw actually dropped. I liked the twist with Mikel but think he was taken a little too soon (if he is dead, very well might not be but if he is) I just feel like Greyson never even got a chance to process it before he jumped in front of him to save his life. I will NEVER forgive the author for Callum. I almost shed tears and I rarely cry when reading. I just loved that man and his big heart so stinking much and I would’ve wailed like Lira. I do like the way the women all stood up for themselves in the end. I dont always love the way a lot of stories do their traditional “girl power” moment in the end when the women become invincible and it seems unbelievable. But I loved the way Lira & Elara had their moment and sort of took back their confidence and voice that was taken from them. I ate up the last 10% of this book. I can’t wait to read on in this series and see what happened to all the other rebellion leaders, rings and characters!”
“Ohhh my gosh! WTF was that ending?? Like we learn that Brooker is alive, Mikel works with callum and Jaeger, then Callum gets shot?!? Is Grayson ok??!?? I have so many questions. 100% recommend this book!!”
