Publisher Description

“When it comes to reimagined fairy tales, the reigning queen of the genre is Marissa Meyer.” —The New York Times

In Cursed, #1 New York Times bestselling author Marissa Meyer brings the haunting fairytale-inspired Gilded duology to a thrilling conclusion that will have fans—old and new—spinning.

Be still now, and I will tell you a tale.

Adalheid Castle is in chaos.

Following a shocking turn of events, Serilda finds herself ensnared in a deadly game of make-believe with the Erlking, who is determined to propel her deeper into the castle’s lies. Meanwhile, Serilda is determined to work with Gild to help him solve the mystery of his forgotten name and past.

But soon it becomes clear that the Erlking doesn’t only want to use Serilda to bring back his one true love. He also seeks vengeance against the seven gods who have long trapped the Dark Ones behind the veil. If the Erlking succeeds, it could change the mortal realm forever.

Can Serilda find a way to use her storytelling gifts for good—once and for all? And can Serilda and Gild break the spells that tether their spirits to the castle before the Endless Moon finds them truly cursed?

Romance and adventure collide in this stunning finale to the Rumpelstilskin-inspired fairy tale.

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“Okay I loooved this duology. I ate it up like popcorn. This is definitely my favourite retelling I’ve ever read. The characters are fantastic, such a strong villain, I love how the original rumpelstiltskin story is woven through…so good. HOWEVER, I have a few qualms: 1. I wish Laina was more important. I feel like she could have come in and actually been pivotal in the story, whereas she ended up just being another kiddo to be saved. But on that note - the erlking knew how important Laina was to Serilda, and I feel like he would have gone to further lengths to use Laina against Serilda. 2. The reveal of Serildas mom was big, that was a good reveal, but then there really wasn’t a lot that came from that reveal. It was like woah okay Serilda is ACTUALLY a god child, whateva not important 3. Which MEANS, that gild and serildas baby is blessed by hulda and vierdith (i audiobooked this i know i have butchered the spelling), which seems important… but again we didn’t touch on that at all but I was hoping that was going to be explored. 4. What is stopping the erlking and pershda from just breaking the arrows holding them to the castle, like what gild and Serilda did…? And also Serilda puts the arrow through pershda (in HER body), so how was she able to just reclaim her body with no repercussions after she had just arrived her body to stay there? 5. Okay last thing - the discovery of gilds name was anticlimactic. The rumpelstiltskin part was good, but his first name was so random and for Freida to just be like “oh hey yeah I know what it is!” Was just not as developed as I wish it was. OKAY. That was a lot of the things I didn’t like (or thought could be better), but dang I still really enjoyed this series and would recommend!!”
