Publisher Description

A bargain between enemies. A curse without an end. A love that will bring a kingdom to its knees.

Long ago, Elise's ancestors stole the crown from the fae king. As the niece of the brutal, current king, her purpose is to do whatever is asked to ensure her family keeps the throne for centuries to come. The trouble is, Elise would rather sneak into gambling halls with the servants than be a silent princess at a ball.

Soon reckless games are ended when her uncle forces her into negotiations for a marriage. If she refuses, her deathly-ill father will pay the price.

Trapped by her sense of duty, Elise is given to the charge of Legion Grey, the handsome and mysterious dowry negotiator. But Legion holds more than her future in his hands. He incites her anger and a forbidden passion.

When a coup upends the kingdom, Elise flees with Legion, only to discover he holds more secrets than anyone. Unknowingly, Elise sets in motion a beastly curse Legion has endured as long as he can remember.

As secrets unravel about Legion's vicious past, questions rise over who has the true right to the throne. When answers come, more lives are put at stake, and Elise is forced to make an impossible choice: avoid a bloody game by leaving Legion to the beast within, or end his curse and restore magic to the land by sacrificing a life--hers.

For fans of Court of Thorns and Roses and The Shadows Between Us, this tale of a rebellious princess and cursed rogue is seductively romantic. Part Viking, part Beauty and the Beast, one-click to preorder a dark, swoon-worthy slow burn romance with the perfect amount of sweet and steam.

“Don’t mind me just hopping right into the next book! This was just the beginning for Legion Grey and Elise and I can’t wait to see the man with many faces again and what he will do!”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“The first 2/3rds of the book follow Elise and her dowry negotiator, Legion, as they attempt to choose her future match while simultaneously festering a relationship of their own. Elise is able to explore the last bit of her freedom and seek the love she had hoped for in a marriage, but knows will not happen. While this part of the book mainly focuses on building the trust and loyalty between Elise and Legion, it also delves into the politics of the land and those who are against the Royals. Elise unlike her fellow Royals does not believe in the violent actions that they partake in to deal with rebels and longs for unity amongst the kingdoms and people. However in the last 3rd of this book, the plot seems to take a drastic turn away from Elise's attempt to find a match and rather in breaking a curse. While the first 2/3rds of the book follows a steady pace, the events in the last part seem to be rushed with the actions of Elise contradicting the independent and strong willed character described in the 1st part of the book. Her sudden forgiveness towards Legion after being lied to baffles me as well as we do not see her fully digest the fact that majority of the people closest to her have lied to her and while for a few pages she holds a grudge towards them, the matter is quickly slipped under the rug and all is forgiven so that she can finally claim her one purpose, to break this curse. I'm curious as to how she seeks to have a purpose in this world beyond following a man as she would of if she were married, to end up in the end waiting for a man to love her back.”
“I really enjoyed this book, some of it was very predictable and I knew what was going to happen before it did. But the story and the characters were good.”
