Some worlds deserve to be destroyed . . .Some worlds deserve to be destroyed . . .
Isla Crown has charted a new destiny and leapt into the unknown, determined to defeat her insidious ancestor, Lark, no matter the cost. But Skyshade is nothing like she anticipated, and she’ll have to use all of her skills just to survive, let alone end Lark for good.
Meanwhile, Grim and Oro would sooner set fire to their own kingdoms than leave Isla stranded on a path toward certain death. But getting her back will involve forging an alliance—if they can find a way to forgive their long history of betrayals.
The key to Isla’s return—and the fate of the realms—lies close to her heart. But in the face of her most powerful enemy yet, will Isla be able to reconcile her past in order to carve a future of her own making?

“I have to say this one was one of the more heartbreaking installments in the Lightlark series. My heart hurt for all three heroes in different ways and by the end I was fully crying reading this for reasons I'm still not entirely aware of??? It just reached a crescendo of emotions by the end that I think hit me all at once and made for one hell of a finale. I suspect I know what the next book will be called and I am absolutely dying to see where it goes :)”

Oh I can’t believe I have to wait for the last book! I really should’ve done my research because I thought this was the end of the series, and that cliffhanger was intense. Honestly, the whole book was intense.
The relationships between Isla, Grim, and Oro were absolutely gut-wrenching in this one. I’m not even sure how I want to feel about any of them anymore. I just want a resolution, but I’m already sad thinking about however it turns out because it feels like, in some way, all of them are going to end up heartbroken.
Poor Isla was really put through the wringer in this book. The villains are ruthless and complicated, and it’s hard watching some of the other characters try so desperately to help the people they care about. By the fourth book, you’re so invested in everyone that it’s painful knowing I have to wait for this story to finally resolve.
🎧 - this audiobook was taken to a whole new level with three different narrators! I really loved having two different narrators for the male characters. It just made everything more emotional and really brought the story to life.
🌶️ - the intimate scenes are definitely more open door and more frequent in this book. They still do not use explicit details and most of them are fairly short but it's definitely escalating with each book.
🤬 - there was consistent Wareing throughout this book including multiple uses of the F word.
