Cremated Remains

By M Ennenbach & Candace Nola
Cremated Remains by M Ennenbach & Candace Nola digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Synopsis:

Contained within are ten tales curated in the flames of madness, friendship, love, betrayal, and desire. Ten urns carelessly spilled to stain the parchment in the spectrum of emotional dissonance on the condition of being human. The cremated remains of creativity.

Praise for Cremated Remains:

"Sensuous, evocative prose and stories to revisit time and again. Ennenbach's the real deal, folks. This is one you do not want to miss."-Brian Bowyer, author of OLD TOO SOON

"What words can I write to do justice to the haunting, eerie, almost lyrical stories in this collection? I was riveted from the first paragraph of the first story straight until the last line. The raw pain, torment, and loneliness of some of the characters, the stark landscapes, and the mind-bending realities in these pages prove there's no one else like M Ennenbach." - Jill Girardi, co-author of "We're Not Ourselves Today" (with Lydia Prime)

Cremated Remains Reviews

3.5
“This was a suggestion for me, and I will always give a short story or anthology collection a chance, I always find something good. Golden Lazarus was a very interesting opening story and really hooked me for the rest of the book. Its a interesting take on the afterlife, do not miss this one. I really loved Waiting Room, it was hauntingly fucked up story, its about second chances, which is iffy with me, sometimes those stories aren't so satisfying because does everyone really deserve a second chance? Loved this little collection and honestly even as a first time reader this gets a 4 star from me, it lingered after i finished it, and that's a sign of a good book for me.”
“While there was nothing inherently wrong with this collection, none of the stories stuck out to me in particular. Horror is such a subjective genre so take that with a grain of salt, but I didn’t find any disturbing or scary in the least. They were mostly just strange.”
“"Cremated Remains" is a collection of horror stories that offers a modest yet engaging mix of chills. Each tale delivers its own brand of suspense and eeriness, making it a worthwhile read for horror enthusiasts. The authors skillfully blend supernatural elements, psychological terror, and the macabre. While the stories aren't particularly groundbreaking, they possess a certain charm that keeps readers intrigued. The characters evoke empathy, and the detailed settings immerse readers in the spooky atmospheres. A notable strength of this compilation is its diversity in themes and styles, catering to different tastes. This variety ensures there is something for everyone, even if not every story hits the mark for all readers. The pacing is generally well-managed, with standout moments of tension and surprise. The endings, while sometimes predictable, deliver satisfactory conclusions to the eerie build-ups. The authors’ effective use of language creates vivid imagery that brings the chilling scenarios to life. Overall, "Cremated Remains" is a solid addition to the horror genre. It may not leave a lasting impression, but it offers enough scares and eerie moments to make it a pleasant diversion for horror fans, perfect for a quick, entertaining read on a dark, stormy night.”
