Craven Manor by Darcy Coates digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Daniel is desperate for a fresh start. So when a mysterious figure slides a note under his door offering the position of groundskeeper at an ancient estate, he leaps at the chance, even though it seems too good to be true. Alarm bells start ringing when he arrives at Craven Manor. The abandoned mansion is straight out of those old gothic mysteries: the front door hangs open, and leaves and cobwebs coat the marble foyer. It's clear no one has lived here in a long time... but he has nowhere else to go.

Against his better judgment, he moves into the groundskeeper's cottage tucked away behind the old family crypt. But when a candle flickers to life in the abandoned tower window, Daniel realizes he isn't alone after all. Something awful happened here long ago, and it's a paranormal mystery Daniel is afraid to solve. Because Craven Manor is hiding a terrible secret...

One that threatens to bury him with it.

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“Craven Manor was recommended to me by a friend after she talked about it on booktok and I’m so glad I listened because I ended up enjoying the story so much. 📚👻 This book had such a great eerie atmosphere from the start. The creepy old manor, the strange rules, and the mystery surrounding the house kept me hooked and wanting to know what was really going on. I loved how the tension slowly built, and the spooky moments felt just unsettling enough without being over the top. The story follows Daniel as he takes a job at a mysterious manor, only to realize things there aren’t quite normal. Watching him piece together the truth about the house and its past made it really hard to put down. I especially enjoyed how the mystery unfolded and how the characters connected to the manor’s secrets. Overall, this was a really fun and atmospheric haunted house story that kept my attention the whole time. If you enjoy creepy mansions, ghostly mysteries, and slow-building suspense, this one is definitely worth picking up—especially if it pops up on your TikTok feed like it did for me.”
“it was kind of funny reading about a main character who works in a house that is haunted, and really couldn’t care less. he had a very “I’ll leave you alone if you leave me alone” type of mindset that was blown apart by his annoying meddling cousin, instigating the plot. side note: love a book where everyone can be friends in the end lol”
“This book is going to be one of those that you either love or hate. It's definitely well written, and it held my attention through the whole thing. It does have some minor twists and turns, but nothing overly shocking and the characters the author gives you to dislike are definitely easy to hate. Overall I'd say it's worth the read.”
