Courting Miss Adelaide
ByPublisher Description
The "orphan train" seemed like small-town spinster Adelaide Crum's last chance to know the simple joys of family life. So many lost children, every one of them dreaming only of a caring home—the home she longed to offer. And yet the narrow-minded town elders refused to entrust even the most desperate child to a woman alone….
Newspaperman Charles Graves believed his heart was closed forever, but he swore to stand by this lovely, lonely woman who was fighting for the right to take some motherless child into her heart. “Well. That was much more serious than I was expecting. Good Spiritual Content, but all the mentions of beatings and such made my heart hurt and the book heavy feeling.”
*Main Content-
All about beatings & hatred (semi-detailed to very detailed): Fighting & Almost killing someone (twice, detailed); Charles' father would beat him, his brothers, and mother many times & many, many mentions of it (up to detailed); Many mentions of killing & a dead child (semi-detailed); Mentions of suicides.
Adelaide was born out of wedlock; three semi-detailed kisses and a detailed kiss.”
“This book was recommended to me by my aunt and, honestly, as she told me about it, I didn't get very excited about it but, I trusted her and...I don't regret it!
Shortly after reading the book, I wrote a review for my blog and in it I share what I liked, what I didn't like and more! How does it compare to your thoughts?
