“I didn't think I would not like a Philip Pullman book. I found this book on a charity shop and though I found a nice find for a spooky October read.
It's not spooky and it was not fun to read. The books start with just hildi's POV and it is fun and what I was expecting, but after it splits up into each characters POV and from there it just was a lot of nonsense and hard to follow, don't know how kids read this.”
“very much a book targeted at younger audiences as I know are a lot of Philip Pullmans stand alones. but it was a fun easy little read to get me out of a book slump. I picked it up purely because I enjoy his writing style and for that reason it didn't disappoint. it's a lovely little book and for someone the right target audience no doubt a five star read.”

PHILIP PULLMAN is one of the most acclaimed writers working today. He is best known for the His Dark Materials trilogy (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass), which has been named one of the top 100 novels of all time by Newsweek and one of the all-time greatest novels by Entertainment Weekly.
