“really incredible prose, and i love the ways she spoke of the Black women artists she wrote about. known and unknown to american history, the lens she understood these women were not just through their accomplishments and triumphing double discrimination they faced in their time, but through their personal identity and commitment to self. i also loved how she weaved her personal life into her commentary. few parts were a bit questionable though.”
