I enjoyed this read. It started with a death. While a touch jarring, it was the key to the entire plot. Things moved a touch slow for a bit near the beginning as it built the plot, but once Noah (the MMC) and Laura (the FMC) began their "fake romance," everything came together nicely.
The things I liked about it ... I loved the characters. All of them were heartwarming and easy to like. I enjoyed the location and the descriptions that came in small bits throughout the story. And that leads to the main thing I enjoyed in the book; how the author spread out the descriptions we needed for the people and place throughout the story without it feeling like info dumping.
What I didn't care for ... There wasn't a lot that I didn't care for but the things that bothered me brought it down a star. The main one was the predictability. The story itself was predictable. I could have told you what would happen before it did. And the predictability of the FMC and what she'd do in the story. That was the big one for me.
But it didn't ruin the book for me, and I enjoyed it as a romance. And most importantly, it made me want to read the sequels, because you know there will be sequels ... again a little predictable, but well worth reading!”
