“Codex 1962 by Sjón provides a master class in a wide range of literary styles intermingled to produce something extraordinary.
Quick disclaimer to some of my followers: this may not suit some of your tastes, so be warned it contains some graphic scenes and language.
Declared a trilogy, Codex 1962 actually strings one story through various genres for a unified tale that is both inexplicable and as real as it gets. Romance, SciFi, thriller, psychological intrigue, mystery, fantasy, historical fiction, political allegory and more combine to produce this work worth studying.
I started this book on December 24 in honor of the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod. My library happened to have one book on the shelves by an author from Iceland, so I had to scoop it up and bring it home to read alongside my hot chocolate on Christmas Eve. I'm glad I did!”
