“CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT – Horror Anthology – Edited by Mark Morris ‘CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT is the third volume in an annual, non-themed horror series of entirely original stories, showcasing the very best short fiction that the genre has to offer, and edited by Mark Morris. Here Is A Snippet: ‘There’s a game you play, but not yet. Not while the sun lingers. There are other games to play first. Ordinary games, everyday games. Knock Down Ginger, or Knock a Door Run; as many names as there are children in the world. And the other game – the special game, the almost-dark game – began its life here too, burrowing larval into your collective imaginations. Bursting from that fertile cocoon one wet, fragile wing at a time, the way night-things do, for ideas like this wither and die in daylight.’ ‘Rise Up Together’ – by Adam L.G. Nevill – Creepy Good! Thank you, NetGalley and Flame Tree Press, for providing me with an eBook of CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT at the request of an honest review.”
“Such a weird and wonderful collection of creepy and creative stories. I thoroughly enjoyed the vast majority of them… short story collections are often hard to review as they can be a mixed bag but I genuinely enjoyed this book as a whole! Many of the stories were atmospheric, tense and well executed but the stand outs for me were: Best Safe Life For You by Muriel Gray; August Sugar by Philip Fracassi; and Remains by Charlie Hughes.”
“There are some really good stories in this anthology. Most of the authors were unfamiliar to me and I'm excited about exploring their work.”
