“Rob Sandoval and Jonah Beaumont were college classmates, and Rob had a secret crush on Jonah, but when Rob finally found the courage to tell him, Jonah was gone. Years later, Rob is a popular vet turned celebrity thanks to some documentaries made by his sister and goes to Butler’s Run to make his last documentary, where he reconnects with Jonah, who lives there. Both Jonah and Rob are in that moment in life in which they have to make big decisions. The problem is that those decisions would be in different paths: Rob wants a stable, quiet life while Jonah wants to travel and see the world.
This couple is very cute. In the beginning, they were very cautious towards each other, not sure what would happen if their romance ends badly. Throughout the plot, both got some confidence, but I see Jonah too guarded, confused about his goals. Rob knows what he wants and goes for it. I think their conflict was well established, but I found Jonah's issues made me think he was hurt by someone badly.
I loved the setting and the secondary characters, yet they kinda dissappear towards the end of the story. Also, there were some holes in the plot. As for the writing, the author told us a slow-burn romance with tons of meaning.
This book wasn't perfect, but it was a nice read. Kudos to Ms. McIntosh for creating a good story.
