Catty Corner Lands on Her Feet

By Julie Murphy & Eve Farb
Catty Corner Lands on Her Feet by Julie Murphy & Eve Farb digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Julie Murphy, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Dumplin’, brings her signature warm positivity and message of empowerment to her chapter book debut: a series about a big-hearted girl who is half-human, half-cat.

Introducing Catty!

She’s a confident second grader who happens to be half-cat, like her mother and grandmother. In this series debut, Catty hits a few rough patches at her new school. So she turns to her fuzzy diary—AKA her “scratch pad”—where she shares her big feelings and documents her adventures. Before long, Catty is making friends and learning to love her new school.

Catty Corner is the natural next read for fans of character-driven chapter books like Junie B. Jones, Ivy & Bean, and Judy Moody.

Catty Corner Lands on Her Feet Reviews

4.0
“this was a fun book with a lot of cat puns. we follow catty who's starting school. her first day is tough but can she turn it around?”
“Such a good concept, but the execution fell flat. Catty's mom and dad = I hated them. You have a 8-9 year old half cat daughter and you never exposed her in society to help her get a friend, never left the house with her, never went to the city? I am asking because Catty suddenly needs to go to school and having to be around kids is terrifying to her, which yes, she doesn't have human friends or half cat friends, so yes this is a big/huge/gigantic change for her, maybe the mom (also half cat) should have given advice on what to do if this happens or that happen. And how to calm herself and sending her alone to school shouldn't be her first interaction with kids. Okay I stop here. Other thing I was really confused about having cat trees in the house that Catty fits in. And until close to the end there's an illustration where catty is relaxing in a cat tree, I was so confused about the size if the furniture, so I wish they would have included more pictures in the beggining. So they are just really giant cat trees that a 9 year old kid fits on. So cute concept, cute idea, cute pictures. My first impression was a 1-2 star. Because the whole time I was asking, did she never spent any time with kids, what are they expecting from poor half cat girl to do with no experience and not much guidance? Or even how to handle car rides or bus rides, how to keep herself calm? Ahhh those parents give me anxiety. Loved the illustrations.”
