Publisher Description

"Captain Blood Returns" by Rafael Sabatini continues the swashbuckling adventures of Peter Blood, the Irish physician turned pirate who first appeared in Sabatini's classic adventure novel "Captain Blood."

Set in the Caribbean during the late 17th century, the novel follows Blood and his loyal crew as they navigate treacherous seas, political intrigue, and battles against both Spanish and English foes. Though branded an outlaw, Blood remains a man of honor, guided by a strong moral code and a sense of justice. The stories within the book-structured as a series of connected episodes-highlight his cleverness, courage, and wit as he outsmarts enemies and defends the oppressed.

Sabatini blends romance, adventure, and historical detail to portray a hero who defies tyranny and corruption while seeking freedom and redemption. "Captain Blood Returns" is presented here in its original and unabridged format.

About Rafael Sabatini

Rafael Sabatini (1875-1950) was an Italian-English novelist best known for his swashbuckling historical adventures. Born in Jesi, Italy, to opera-singing parents, he was educated in Switzerland and Portugal before settling in England. Fluent in several languages, Sabatini chose to write in English, producing a prolific body of work that combined meticulous historical research with thrilling plots and romantic heroism. His most famous novels, Scaramouche (1921) and Captain Blood (1922), became international bestsellers and were later adapted into successful films, cementing his reputation as a master storyteller. Sabatini's works often feature courageous, witty protagonists who challenge injustice and fate with intelligence and honor. Despite personal tragedies, including the loss of his son and wife, he continued to write until his death in 1950. His legacy endures through his vivid storytelling, elegant prose, and timeless tales of adventure and valor.
