“I liked the book. I personally think the other 2 were better. It just didn’t feel the same reading this one. The others were fantastic for their cozy vibes, this one not so much. Still worth the read though. It’s a nice little story with more action and adventure ☺️”

NO-SPOILERS SUMMARY:
When Fern the rattkin makes the decision to sell her bookshop in Murk to open a new location in Thune next door to Viv’s wildly successful coffee shop, she assumes this must be the much-needed change she has been yearning for. But once the Thune bookshop is fixed up, stocked, and ready to open, Fern finds herself panicking about this new life, ashamed and guilty that all she feels is dissatisfaction and confusion instead of gratefulness and excitement.
One evening, Fern drunkenly decides to stow away inside a cart bed, not knowing that when she awakens, she will be a day-and-a-half’s ride away from Thune, in the company of one of the Territories’ most famous warriors, the Oathmaiden elf, Astryx One-Ear. Astryx is unwilling to provide Fern a ride back home in the opposite direction of her destination, so Fern finds herself along for the ride as Astryx brings in the goblin Zyll for a bounty.
Fern knows she should return home to her bookshop and the company of Viv and her new friends in Thune, but something deep within her is pulling at her to stay on this road, for once getting to be a part of the stories she so loves to sell.

REVIEW: (SPOILERS AHEAD!)
This was definitely the most adventurous book in the series so far! I was surprised that we took the route down Fern’s POV, but it was just as compelling as Viv’s stories have been.

➕Fern’s foul mouth is relatable and hilarious, and I loved the complexity of her character!
➕The other characters we meet in this novel are also fun, especially Breadlee 🤣
➕I loved the adventure plotline to this one! Getting to see more of this bounty hunter life referenced from Viv’s past was a welcome addition to the universe.
