Publisher Description

Holly Golightly knows that nothing bad can ever happen to you at Tiffany's. In this seductive, wistful masterpiece, Capote created a woman whose name has entered the American idiom and whose style is a part of the literary landscape—her poignancy, wit, and naïveté continue to charm.

This volume also includes three of Capote's best-known stories, “House of Flowers,” “A Diamond Guitar,” and “A Christmas Memory,” which the Saturday Review called “one of the most moving stories in our language.” It is a tale of two innocents—a small boy and the old woman who is his best friend—whose sweetness contains a hard, sharp kernel of truth.

“New comfort read!! My first Truman Capote, and I have to say I am very pleased. I loved his writing, and his style was so out there and addictive. He uses words I wouldn’t even think of to describe anything or anyone! Now I’ve always loved “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” the movie. I was surprised to find that she was once a woman that Truman knew and drew inspiration from, on his earlier days in the grittier parts of New York. I preferred this story, I will always love the romantic twist that they put on it for the screen. I love that I understand and know her character more now and it will make forever watching the movie over and over again more enjoyable! I already know that I will reread this book for many years to come!”
“I usually don’t LOVE books told from a man’s POV when he is slightly obsessed / intrigued by a woman, but I really enjoyed this. I felt like Holly could have been even more fleshed out, but I still found her deeply interesting nonetheless. The writing is phenomenal - every sentence is there for a reason. Every page had a paragraph I felt lucky to have read.”

About Truman Capote

The Modern Library has played a significant role in American cultural life for the better part of a century. The series was founded in 1917 by the publishers Boni and Liveright and eight years later acquired by Bennett Cerf and Donald Klopfer. It provided the foundation for their next publishing venture, Random House. The Modern Library has been a staple of the American book trade, providing readers with affordable hardbound editions of important works of literature and thought. For the Modern Library's seventy-fifth anniversary, Random House redesigned the series, restoring
as its emblem the running torch-bearer created by Lucian Bernhard in 1925 and refurbishing jackets, bindings, and type, as well as inaugurating a new program of selecting titles. The Modern Library continues to provide the world's best books, at the best prices.
