Bloody Rose
ByPublisher Description
A band of fabled mercenaries tour a wild fantasy landscape, battling monsters in arenas in front of thousands of adoring fans. But, a secret and dangerous gig ushers them to the frozen north, and the band is never one to waste a shot at glory.
Live fast, die young.
Tam Hashford is tired of working at her local pub, slinging drinks for world-famous mercenaries and listening to the bards sing of adventure and glory in the world beyond her sleepy hometown.
When the biggest mercenary band of all, led by the infamous Bloody Rose, rolls into town, Tam jumps at the chance to sign on as their bard. It's adventure she wants -- and adventure she gets as the crew embark on a quest that will end in one of two ways: glory or death.
It's time to take a walk on the wyld side.
"Humorous twists and pulse-ratcheting action abound in Bloody Rose, but its Eames' knack for heart-wrenching poignancy that makes his warm, wonderful fantasy so harmonious." -- NPR

“I kind of trudged through this book. It was always hard to pick back up, but once I got into it a bit, it was fine. It did take me like two months to read it.
Definitely has a lot of excitement but I felt it lacked a lot of the humor I loved about the first book.
The book had a good plot twist and the ending was bittersweet for sure.”

“Good book overall. I liked how fast we got into the action of the band rather than the last book where the band took its time to get together. But they are two different books and can act as a standalone. There were several laughs along the way. I got more of the rock references than last time. Favorite one was men without helmets. There was a good amount of action and the pacing was good sometimes fast but steady most of the time. There were a few twists I didn't see coming. It had a satisfying conclusion. Can't wait for book 3.”

“Exciting, rag tag band.. on the go and fighting monsters. This is a story for people that enjoy the relationships between the characters and aren’t too focused on the world building, per se.
It was fast paced. Light footed, somewhat and fun.
All around a great time and I’m glad I picked this book up!
Side note, I really liked all of the characters.. I’m trying to think of what I disliked and .. the only thing I could point out would be this is not a story of super detailed magic and world building.. there is no building up to the lore. Which I honestly enjoyed for a change.. this book got me out of my reading slump - so give it a try!”
