“This was an okay read for me. The found family aspect was definitely the highlight, and that's a trope I'll happily read every time.
I also discovered that the miscommunication trope just isn't for me. Maybe another book will change my mind in the future, but for now, it's not something I particularly enjoy.
I found many of the relationships and friendships to be quite toxic, and there were moments when they had me wanting to throw my Kindle in frustration! That said, if you don't mind the miscommunication trope, there's a good chance you'll enjoy this book more than I did.”
“I enjoyed this book, I thought it was well written and once I started reading I couldn’t stop. But, I found, when I sat down to read, I felt like reading anything but this. It wasn’t until I got to around 70% that I really got into it. Listening to the audio kept me going & helped get me through this. I was a bit heartbroken for Ethel when Brey rejected her before he had all the facts & of course she was too betrayed to tell him the truth.
