Black Girl, Bloom Bright Reviews

“Thank you MacMillian Audio and Net Galley for this ALC of Black Girl, Bloom Bright. This is a great book filled with positive affirmations for little black girls. I would recommend the ages 8 & up. I do think this may be a little advanced for younger readers, however, I think that it still can purchased for a younger audience and cherished for years to come. As for the audiobook, I really appreciated the sound effects and the positive uplifting music. I also loved the snippet for the little girl with the unique name. This will be really empowering for young girls to read. I am sure that the picture images are just as beautiful as the audio. I would definitely purchase for gifting for those friends and family members with young daughters.”
“One of the things I love the most about this book is how powerful it affirms Black girls. This book reminds me and will remind them that they are already enough - beautiful, intelligent, and worthy just as they are. The language is uplifting and empowering and the message feels both gentle and strong at the same time. It encself-love, confidence, and pride in identity, which is so important for young readers to see reflected in the stories they read. This is more than just a children's book- it's a celebration of Black girlhood and a reminder that every girl deserve to feel seen, valued, and encouraged to shine.”
“Black Girl, Bloom Bright, written and narrated by author/poet Mahogany L. Browne, is a delightful audiobook of poems, that affirms and uplifts the beauty, intelligence, creativity, verve and dreams of African American/Black girls. The cover art of the audio book is illustrated by Sawyer Cloud, and depicts the diversity and unique beauty of skin tones of three Black girls. The illustrations of these girls also depict various, unique hairstyles that young Black girls commonly wear! While listening to Browne’s glorious ode to Black girls, I found myself smiling, and was moved to tears. This is an audiobook that also affirms me, as a Black woman who is 60 years+ old, and never had such books to read when I was growing up as a child. Black Girl, Bloom Bright, is an audiobook for all ages. Thank you Macmillan Audio and Net Galley for providing an ARC of this audiobook, in exchange for my honest review.”
