“I loved the witchy elements to the book but I think a lot of the characters were unlikeable which made it difficult to care if they got a happy ending. There seemed to be a lot of deep rooted problems within the family that the author just brushed aside and quickly wrote off but it would have made the book more interesting to see more of an explosion of the their family dynamic and the introduction of other characters who had more of an impact of the story . I think it’s a cute easy read but I think it missed the chance to be brilliant by playing it too safe with the plot.”Reviewed in:Black to Front

About Diane Marie Brown
Diane Marie Brown is a professor at Orange Coast College and a public health professional for the Long Beach Health Department. She has a BA and MPH from UCLA and a degree in fiction from USC’s Master of Professional Writing Program. She grew up in Stockton and now lives in Long Beach, California, with her husband, their four daughters, and their dog, Brownie. Black Candle Women is her debut novel.
