Publisher Description

A close presidential election in November could well come down to contested states or even districts--an election decided by vote theft? It could happen this year. Based on Greg Palast and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s investigative reporting for Rolling Stone and BBC television, Billionaires & Ballot Bandits: How to Steal an Election in 9 Easy Steps might be the most important book published this year--one that could save the election.

Billionaires & Ballot Bandits names the filthy-rich sugar-daddies who are super-funding the Super-PACs of both parties--billionaires with nicknames like "The Ice Man," "The Vulture" and, of course, The Brothers Koch. Told with Palast's no-holds-barred, reporter-on-the-beat style, the facts as he lays them out are staggering. What emerges in Billionaires & Ballot Bandits is the never-before-told-story of the epic battle being fought behind the scenes between the old money banking sector that still supports Obama, and the new hedge fund billionaires like Paul Singer who not only support Romney but also are among his key economic advisors. Although it has not been reported, Obama has shown some backbone in standing up to the financial excesses of the men behind Romney. Billionaires & Ballot Bandits exposes the previously unreported details on how operatives plan to use the hundreds of millions in Super-PAC money pouring into this election. We know the money is pouring in, but Palast shows us the convoluted ways the money will be used to suppress your vote.

The story of the billionaires and why they want to buy an election is matched with the nine ways they can steal the election. His story of the sophisticated new trickery will pick up on Palast's giant New York Times bestseller, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.

“The thing about investigative journalism is it will shock you to the core. And the higher you are in the ivory tower, greater the seismic impact is felt. Why? Because the global 1% who own the ivory towers are making it worse for you and further for those can’t afford the luxury to ‘read’. The godforsaken billionaires, inscrutable politicians and those underneath the govt regalia on whom we yowl ACAB. Greg’s in-depth research about rigged elections and voter fraud is harrowing, sad and sadly (and dangerously) remains underrated. It lists 9 ways in which the aforementioned(un)holy trinity insinuate ways to not cancel your vote or guarantee that your vote vanishes like whispers in the wind, especially if your race/ethnicity is anything other than white. (Uncle Sam cataract ops, when?) (Guess how it’s linked to taking away native lands for toxic dumping, creating ungodly working environments and selling you poison slapped with friendly consumer labels?) If this wasn’t catastrophic enough, enter hedge fund knights in shining three-piece armours and fortune fortresses (banks) to take away your homes without the slightest hint of getting you a shelter. Oh and making billions off of it. Palast goes way past the great wall of electric fences that vanguards the termite-ridden veracity of the American society yet is (himself) quite behind the socially acceptable terminologies (TW for this). Supported by the sketches and wit of Ted Rall and the once once-earnest-now-at-eternal-rest brains of Bobby Kennedy Jr. (lord, what hath stuck down upon thee) to bring such critical dump on stealing elections in more ways than you can wonder (how/why/blue-blue sky). If almost 6 million votes aren’t being counted [in the 2008 elections (and it’s getting worse)] and stakeholders at the senate and GoP are calling it a felony, why only half-dozen are getting arrested? My dear readers, every apex political persona has a billionaire or two (ballot bandits) qt their behest, so it comes down to who’s the ringmaster extraordinaire between the two? Doesn’t matter. You’re the circus clown.”
“An incredibly disturbing and rage-inducing book that should be a must-read for every American citizen. Palast's deep investigative reporting produces facts and solid figures about just how elections are being bought--on both sides of the aisle. He also arms the reader with ample information on how to stop this from happening. Hint: it's definitely not through armchair apathy. It's not like I didn't already know that ballot banditry was happening and a big problem. But the depths to which it goes, who's behind it all, and WHY, well, that's what's really sick about it all. I like to believe that people are generally good and often do stupid things that they think are in their (and your) best interest. But I can't see how the Ice Man, the Vulture, the Koch brothers, et. al. could possibly be good human beings after reading this treatise. Read this book before the election. Then send it to all your friends.”
