Bending Reality
ByPublisher Description
Almost no one knows how great doctors are made, but with the grace and humor of a professional writer, Schultz describes his own beginnings, his education, his training, life threatening incidents and events that spiced his professional life, earning him an international reputation along the way. From witch doctors in Africa, to drunken Soviet surgical innovators, to the CIA, Schultz has seen, and tells it all.
If you ever need someone to slice you open and correct deformities that either nature or an awful car crash has wrought, a guy like Schultz is exactly who you want. He was reserved, imaginative, precise, hideously conscientious and totally prepared in the operating room. Outside the Op room doors, this book reveals a really nice guy having the time of his life pursuing his career, helping found whole hospital departments, and demonstrating his procedures in three dozen countries around the world.

“Excellent book! Not only did it portray the author's life well, but you see how far plastic surgery has advanced. His life and his work are definitely something to read about. I find surgeries fascinating, but his life throughout his career is intriguing. You can't help but cringe at parts and sympathize with him and get excited when things went well. His documenting photographs show the phenomenal work from beginning to end on some of the patients.
I enjoyed it to say the least.”
