Publisher Description

Secrets, strangers, and curses will lure you into the first book of the New York Times bestselling contemporary gothic fantasy series, where a stirring paranormal romance unfolds in an isolated southern town. Perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare and Maggie Stiefvater.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps, and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who's been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

Beautiful Creatures Reviews

“As a teenager, I had a cat named Lena Duchannes, who of course was named after the movie character and not the book character as someone who didn’t really get around to picking up the books until recently which I also regret. While the movie is good, it’s not one of the best book to film adaptations around and I can understand why it was a flop to Beautiful Creatures fans. Similar to the Percy Jackson movies, if you view it as its own standalone thing it’s a very good movie but if you compare it to the source it’s not the best but still interesting. I do wish I had read the book sooner rather than later but I’m glad I still got around to doing it anyways and will definitely be picking up the sequel soon as well. Happy I found an autographed copy for $15 at my local bookstore as well.”
“okay, this book single-handedly got me out of a reading slump. I couldn’t put it down! I loved the Southern Gothic setting, and the plot was so unique that it always kept me eager to turn the page. my only complaint is that I felt like we only got to know the characters on a surface level, even though the book is almost 600 pages long. the ending plot also felt a bit rushed. however, since this is the first book in a series, I’m sure it’ll be resolved in the next one. overall, it was an entertaining and easy read, definitely recommend!!”
“A bit predictable but a good YA book for sure”
