“The stories in the first half were a lot stronger in my opinion. I felt like I reflected more earlier on and lost meaning as I read more. However, the animal motif throughout really pulled on my heartstrings. Especially in “Fears and Confessions of an Ortolan Chef” and “Spins.” The standout story of this collection will always be “The Alphabet” for me. I was nearly in tears.”
