Assassin's Mark

By Ward Larsen
Assassin's Mark by Ward Larsen digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

USA Today bestselling author Ward Larsen's globe-trotting, hard-hitting assassin, David Slaton, returns for another breathless adventure, Assassin's Mark.

With the help of CIA operative David Slaton, America has shaken off a series of high-tech attacks. Then, just as the threat seems to have receded, the most brazen strike of all: Marine One is brought down in the heart of the capital. The president survives the crash, but is clinging to life by a thread.

Once again, Slaton gets the call. With limitless backing from the CIA, the agency’s most lethal assassin is dispatched halfway around the world. But as his mission nears completion, he finds himself targeted by a talented adversary, a ruthless young assassin who moves like a ghost, and whose motives are unclear.

What is clear is that Trident is not yet finished, and that there is a high-level traitor in the U.S. government. And the only way forward is to topple a conspiracy in the uppermost echelons of Washington.

At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

“It's a book about how to kick a US president'ass. Literally. You have to read it if you want to know what I mean. It's a book about how people in the highest echelons of US government solve problems by themselves. They don't go to courtroom, they just kill by their own. Imagine a sweet little girl. Maybe four years old. She is fond of you and smiles every time when she sees you. Imagine that such sweet person has some saved money. Your biggest problem is that you need a little money, for example for a bus ticket. Would you rob her? And that's exactly what the protagonist did. An adult with a son and pregnant wife. He needed some cash and he violated her piggy bank. Very hard stuff. Adults are robbing children and people from White House are killing villains. Five stars.”
“David is a CIA operative who is helping after America has undergone a series of high-tech attacks. Just when the attempts seem to be over, Marine One is brought down, with the president aboard. While she survives, she is fighting for her life. With the backing of the CIA and unlimited resources, David finds himself facing off against a talented adversary, and a ruthless young assassin who moves like a ghost and has unclear motives. What is clear, however, is there is a high-level traitor in the US government, and David is the only one who can figure it out. This was a fast-paced thriller full of action. This was my first book in this series, and I really enjoyed it, it was so much fun. Even though this is book nine, I think that it was written well enough that it can easily stand-alone. The only thing that was a little bit of a letdown was how predictable this one was. I felt that it was a bit formulaic for my liking, but if you put that aside, it was entertaining. This book was totally bingeable, and it left me wanting to keep going even when other things came up. The characters were well thought out and developed, and I would love to go back in the series to get to know them better. This is one of those books that will be playing like a movie in your head while you’re watching it. Thank you so much to the publisher, Tor Publishing Group, and Netgalley, @netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.”
